Snehalaya provides rehabilitation and education to the children with disabilities with love and care. It provides residence to 55 children.  It provides various therapies to the children. Following are the services that are provided for the holistic growth of the children.

  • SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME (HOLISTIC APPROACH)

    Special School is an English medium school. It provides a Day School programme for children with special needs especially for the children with Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities. It mainly focuses on children between the age group of 5 to 18 years. The children are grouped according to their mental age and abilities, into play class, nursery, pre-school, open schooling classrooms and prevocational groups based on the diagnostic evaluation. It follows a multidisciplinary approach in training and educating the children. It has music class and computer labs. This helps the children in their holistic development. The training includes development of following areas:

    • Physical motor skills
    • Self-help skills
    • Communication skills
    • Cognitive abilities
    • Social and emotional interactions
    • Domestic and vocational skills
    • Extra-curricular activities
    • Leisure time activities
    • Play, out-door and in-door games
  • DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE

    A multidisciplinary team comprising of

    • Special educator
    • Physiotherapist
    • Speech Therapist
    • Occupational therapist
    • Paediatrician
    • Social worker and
    • Nurse

    It provides diagnostic services to the children with physical and mental handicaps, emotional and behavioural problems. As according to the needs of the children the services of other experts are also provided. After a thorough diagnostic evaluation, the child is sent to either to Snehalaya special education programme or to mainstream educational settings.

  • MAINSTREAM EDUCATION PROGRAMME

    Snehalaya has successfully integrated few children with special needs in the Mainstream Schools. During the past year a boy has passed out 10th standard and he is doing his college at home and another girl passed out 12th standard. The children in Snehalaya are given primary education and those students who are good in academics are enrolled in National Institute of Open School for 10th Standard. In all eleven children are enrolled for 10th standard. All of them are doing well in School. It encourages them to accept and understand their differences and learn to respect one another. It enhances inclusion for all that all children have the right to learn together.

  • PRE-VOCATIONAL TRAINING

    Snehalaya trains the children with disabilities for job oriented vocations, with a view to start their own sheltered workshop or for self employment, or to prepare them for open employment. Basic skills in income producing trades are given such as tailoring, embroidery, knitting, screen printing, textile designing, greeting cards and candle making, computer training etc. depending on the aptitude, creativity and capability of individual child.

  • COUNSELING AND SOCIAL WORK

    Counselling facility is available for the children to develop their personality and build up positive self-image, to get better incorporated in the family and society. The main objectives of social work of Snehalaya are: i) to bring about an awareness among the people about the different disabilities children suffer  and how to cope with them; ii) to enlighten them about their rights and how to safeguard them; iii) to reach out to the village children with various disability and give them an opportunities to develop.
